At the World Championship in Herning they were one of the big sensations: Cathrine Dufour and Vamos Amigos (by Vitalis). After a fantastic season, their careers together have come to an end. The Danish rider announced on her social media today that Vamos Amigos is going back to its owners. The Pidgley family has always owned the Vitalis son and Annabella Pidgley is now going to drive the robber herself. In addition to Charlotte Dujardin’s former top horse Gio (by Apache), Annabella will have a new top horse in her stables.
Cathrine Dufour and Vamos Amigos successfully debuted in the international Grand Prix at the CDI-W Vilhelmsborg in 2020, scoring almost 73.5% in the Grand Prix. The then eight-year-old gelding was immediately successful, but it was clear that there was still a lot of work to be done. He showed so much talent and sharpness that it was often just on the edge. Dufour managed to manage that fantastically because the scores were higher per game.
Hat trick on CHIO Aachen
At the CHIO Aachen this year it became clear why Dufour had a world horse in Vamos Amigos. The combination managed to win all three classes and in the final freestyle to music the combination scored 88.375%. Ten-year-old Vamos Amigos scored higher percentages at CHIO Aachen than his stable mate Bohemian (by Bordeaux) and thus became Cathrine Dufour’s World Cup trump card. At the World Championship in Herning, they went on to win team gold and two individual silver.
