The 24-year-old actor Ryan Grantham has been given a life sentence. Grantham was an actor who mainly appeared in guest roles until 2019. Murder of mother
In March 2020, Ryan Grantham shot his mother Barbara Waite. He shot her in the back of the head at their home in Vancouver, Canada, while she was playing the piano. Immediately after the murder, Grantham filmed himself saying, “I shot her in the head. Just after it happened, she must have realized it was me.” Then he also filmed his mother’s body.
A day later, he covered his mother’s lifeless body with a sheet, lit candles around her, and hung a sprig of rosemary over the piano. He then decided to also kill Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. He grabbed three firearms, bullets and twelve Molotov cocktails and drove to Justin Trudeau’s home.
On the way, he changed his mind and drove to his school, Simon Fraser University, to commit a mass shooting. But along the way he came to his senses. Grantham then drove back to Vancouver and turned himself in to the police.
From then on, Grantham remained in police custody pending his trial, which started a few weeks ago. The first involved allegations of first-degree murder in the United States and Canada first degree murder. Grantham, however, insisted there was no planned murder.
Ultimately, the judge ruled that Grantham was given a life sentence. He will not be eligible for parole for the next 14 years.
