One of two brothers suspected of stabbing in western Canada has been found dead by police. This is reported by the Reuters news agency, based on the regional police. The pair are said to have killed at least 10 people and injured 18 others in an indigenous community on Sunday. Since then, hundreds of police officers have been involved in a manhunt for the perpetrators.

In this manhunt, the body of 31-year-old Damien Sanderson was found dead in the same community in the province of Saskatchewan where most of the stabbings took place. Saskatchewan police deputy commander Rhonda Blackmore said he may have been killed by his fugitive brother Myles.

This Myles Sanderson is probably injured, according to the police. Nevertheless, they are warned not to approach him. “Myles has a long criminal record covering both individuals and property crimes,” Blackmore said. “We consider him armed and dangerous. Don’t approach him.”

The motive of the perpetrators, who according to the police randomly attacked their victims, is not yet known. Among the dead are women and the elderly. A state of emergency has been declared in Saskatchewan and the nearby provinces of Alberta and Manitoba following the series of attacks. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has expressed horror at the stabbing and expressed his condolences to the families of the victims.
