A resident of the Alderman de Vriesplantsoen in Amsterdam-Zuidoost has been dead in his home for months. The body was discovered after a neighbor raised the alarm. Today the furniture has been removed.
The deceased man had no contact with anyone, according to the neighborhood, but he caused a nuisance. Four different neighbors say he was screaming almost every evening or night. That screaming stopped a few months ago.
“Honestly, I’m not relieved, because I don’t wish death on anyone,” says an inhabitant of the park. “I just thought it was weird that it was so quiet. And he really screamed every night.” She herself suspected that the man may have gone to a shelter.
Another resident says the deceased resident was lonely. “He sometimes went out on the balcony excessively by cursing Jan, Piet and Klaas. But it is of course sad and sad that you have to end up like this. That is horrific.”
Not a criminal offense
The body was found on June 23. He probably died in March or April. The removal of the furniture, waste and other items only happened today.
A police spokesman said that the detectives also suspect that the body had been there for two or three months. An investigation has been conducted, but his death was not the result of a criminal offence.
