In recent weeks, there have been numerous complaints about Ryanair’s fares, as well as the fact that passengers are forced to pay with an international bank card instead of the Moroccan dirham.

The price increases are significant. For example, the price of a ticket between Marrakech and Tetouan has increased from 140 dirhams to 850 dirhams, while the price for a flight between Marrakech and Tangier has increased from 240 dirhams to 853 dirhams. The price of a ticket between Agadir and Tangier has also risen sharply, from 163 dirhams to 853 dirhams.

The criticism of Ryanair comes not only from passengers, but also from members of parliament. In April, the Haraki party in parliament asked the Minister of Transport and Logistics about Ryanair’s practices. Haraki Party member Driss Sentissi argued that the company’s “first flights in April 2024 were very popular among travelers. What bothered passengers was the payment method used by the company to purchase these tickets, namely payment in foreign currency via an international bank card. Many of the company’s customers consider this a form of deception.”

The Ministry of Transport and Logistics already informed Ryanair of the complaints on March 29, 2024 and requested it to comply with the rules as soon as possible. To date, Ryanair has not yet met these requirements.
