Club Brugge failed to reach the final of the Conference League. Fiorentina scored the equalizer ten minutes before the end and advanced to the final.

Club Brugge had to score at least once in Jan Breydel after the 3-2 defeat, which was swirling before and during the match. Skov Olsen was absent again, the Dane again suffered from an injury. Onyedika was suspended after his red card last week.

Both teams started the match cautiously, so they had to wait for their first real chance. After twenty minutes it was an immediate victory for Club. Vanaken sent an excellent cross, De Cuyper stroked the ball which went into the far corner.

Fiorentina reacted immediately and pushed Club back. Mignolet kept Gonzalez from making it 1-1, as Kouamé’s shot went off the crossbar just short of the goal line. Club had a good chance with Thiago on the half hour, but he put it back to Skoras too late, allowing Dodô to kick away.

Penalty kills Club Brugge

Fiorentina kept coming in the second half, Club Brugge was completely pushed back. Biraghi hit a free kick on the crossbar, Kouamé then headed it onto the post. The Italians kept coming and the 1-1 hung in the air.

Ten minutes before the end, Club also scored the equalizer from the spot. Nzola hit Mechele’s leg, which went too high. Mignolet chose the right angle, but Beltran kicked in out of his reach. Club had to score again.

Vanaken came very close to 2-1 in the 95th minute, but saw his attempt turned away by goalkeeper Terracciano. The score remained 1-1 in Jan Breydel, so Club Brugge’s European adventure ends just before the final.
