chic brother of electric 208 and Corsa is the cheapest

Lancia is back in the Netherlands. The Lancia Ypsilon kicks off the polder adventure. This had already been revealed, but now all prices of the Lancia Ypsilon are also known. And they are sharper than you think.

In the past, anyone who purchased a Lancia had to pay more in their pockets than for a comparable Fiat. A bit short-sighted, but Fiat was for the lowlife and Lancia for the rich stinkers. This has always remained the case. In 2016 you paid roughly 12,000 euros for a new Fiat Panda, but for a similarly motorized Ypsilon you quickly had to bring 3,000 euros more. And then you also had two fewer doors.

Price Lancia Ypsilon: from 29,700 euros

But times change. Lancia naturally wants to sell cars. That is why the prices of the Lancia Ypsilon start at 29,700 euros. A lot of money compared to the amounts mentioned earlier, but in 2024 the cheapest car in the Netherlands, the very old Mitsubishi Space Staralready 17,490 euros.

Compare the new Ypsilon with the Fiat 600 (after all, also from Italy and about the same size), then the price difference is only 210 euros (the 600 starts at 29,490 euros). In both cases it is a mild hybrid with a 1.2-liter three-cylinder with 100 hp.

Cheaper than an electric Fiat

Just like the Fiat 600, the Lancia Ypsilon is also available as a fully electric car. And just like the 600, you get a 156 hp electric motor with a 51 kWh battery. That is a well-known powertrain from car giant Stellantis, including the electric one Peugeot 208 and the electrical Opel Corsa are available with that motor and battery.

Only they start with 136 hp, for 20 hp more you have to pay extra. Lancia asks at least 35,400 euros for the more powerful electric ‘Yp’. Fiat wants 35,990 euros for its 600th Red, which also has 156 hp. The Lancia is therefore once again competitively priced.

Tip

Lancia Ypsilon: 3 equipment levels

The Lancia Ypsilon has three equipment levels: Ypsilon, Ypsilon LX and Edizione Cassina Limitata. For that name alone you would choose the latter; it sounds like an even tastier version of the Italian ice cream classic cassata. However, it concerns the Italian furniture maker Cassina, which is known for its expensive designer items. In combination with the electric drivetrain, however, you have to pay so much (39,500 euros) that you only have money left for an Ola rocket.

Oh yes, the coffee table

The Ypsilon is equipped as standard with a multifunctional steering wheel, electrically adjustable and heated exterior mirrors, automatic air conditioning and keyless start. You also have wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch central touchscreen. But let’s not forget the coffee table under the central screen. That may sound lame, but it is more useful than you think.

You can order the new Lancia Ypsilon from June.
