On Friday morning, May 10, pianist and composer Iris Hond will launch her new album Dust Awakened By Dawn in the Concertgebouw Amsterdam. It is the revelation of her most personal music diary, in which she shares her deepest emotions without filters or masks.
“I just want to be myself and let my pure, unfiltered emotions be heard,” says Iris. “Without having to think about what the outside world thinks of it and whether it is impressive enough pianistically.”
For Iris, translating her first morning emotions into music is an important part of her life. “Every morning when I wake up, I sit down at my piano. When I play intuitively I can express my pure, unfiltered emotions in my music,” she explains. “These melodies, which I always found too personal to share, are a reflection of who I really am, without embellishment or mask.”
