From April 25, 2024, day tourists to Venice will have to pay an entrance fee for the first time. This counts as a test on the 29 busiest days of this year. If the trial is successful, it will be introduced for visits to Venice from 2025. A ticket costs five euros and applies to people aged 14 and over.

Entrance tickets are available both online and on location in the city. Overnight guests are exempt from purchasing a ticket because they already pay tourist tax for their stay. Residents and their visitors excluded from this scheme. Children under the age of 14 and people in possession of a European Disability Card are also exempt.

This year the busy days include:

  • April 25 to 30
  • May 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19, 25 and 26
  • June 8, 9, 15, 16, 22, 23, 29 and 30
  • July 6, 7, 13 and 14
