Cultural house Garenspinnerij celebrates its 10th anniversary with the spectacle GOUD! A festive program packed with theatre, music and art for all Gouwen residents. Come to us on Friday April 5 and Saturday April 6 GOLD!the spectacle that celebrates 10 years since the renovated building of the Royal Machine Yarn Spinning Mill on the Turfsingel was put into use as a Yarn Spinning Cultural Center.

The event is a fusion of music, theater and art and is free for all Gouwen residents, young and old. The regular Cultuurhuismates Jeugdtheaterhuis, StudioGonz, Cultuurhuis Garenspinnerij and Netwerk Amateurkunst jointly transform the entire building into one vibrant stage. Come and experience for yourself how theatre, music and art can amaze, surprise and move you. Experience it!

Friday April 5 | from 7:00 PM
Friday evening will be a musical spectacle. Visitors enjoy a varied lineup of house bands and ensembles. After the crackling opening by Kingsman Orchestra with popping ‘Pendulum Wave’ music sounds everywhere in the building. The Shapeshifters & The Millimeters, The Freddies and Hyeenas On Stage will perform, among others. The Baroque ensemble plays music by Gershwin and the clarinet ensemble Chalumeau does a clarinet trave. You can play along during a jam session or dance silently through the evening on the Silent Disco with resident DJ Danou. Afterwards there are Piano Bar Hits in the foyer and the festive Karaoke Evening in StudioGonz.
Saturday April 6 | from 1:00 PM
On Saturday afternoon the program opens with a live talk show in StudoGonz, with guests including singer-songwriter, theater maker, comedian and former student Peter van Rooijen. Everyone is welcome to toast and eat cake with us. Then the spectacle erupts throughout the building. Features include the performance HAKIM at its Best (4+, known from Sesame Street), the Gouda rock formation ASK! in StudioGonz and Theater Confetti of Jeugdtheaterhuis. Come watch, listen and participate yourself. There are all kinds of activities, music performances, and other fun and interesting things to see or do all the time. Of a Ocarina Soundscape and a film screening, to performances by choirs and ensembles. Visit our Secret Garden or the Harp Lying Concert to relax. Laugh at the fools from Crazy Saturday who play a farce. Participate in a live mural to classical music, theater improvisation or body percussion. Join the discussion in the live talk show for and by young people, or make a gold brooch yourself. The afternoon ends with a spectacular final concert by Stedelijk Harmonie Caecilia.

About the Yarn Spinning Mill
The building of Cultuurhuis Garenspinnerij has an interesting history as a former workshop of the Goudsche Machinale Garenspinnerij, founded in 1861. It once employed around 400 employees, including children. Upon reaching its centenary in 1961, the company received the Royal designation. After moving to Waddinxveen in 1981, the building was taken over by the municipality of Gouda.
Since the extensive renovation in 2014, the building now shines as the cultural one hotspot for Gouda and surrounding areas. With spaces for StudioGonz, Youth Theater House, Amateur Art Network and Garenspinnerij Culture House, it is the place for young and old for art and theater education, expression and connection. Whether it concerns attending workshops or courses in visual arts, theatre, music, media and dance, admiring exhibitions, visiting a concert or simply a nice flexible workspace in the foyer; Garenspinnerij Culture House is always open to everyone.
