Penrith’s Dylan Edwards has stunned with a sensational individual try and winger Sunia Turuva followed it up with a hat-trick as the Panthers easily lead the Roosters 22-6 after 60 minutes.

Early in the first half the Penrith fullback was backpedalling on the 5th tackle as the Roosters defense was closing, however he went right, found some space before putting a grubber in which he chased down himself to score.

“That’s a brilliant skill,” Michael Ennis said.

Joey Manu looked to make it 12-6 in the 24th minute, but Jared Waerea-Hargraeves was penalized for a questionable obstruction on Dylan Edwards 10 meters in front of the play which Andrew Voss labeled “rubbish”.

MATCH PREVIEW

The Penrith Panthers will make the hour commute down the M4 to Allianz Stadium to take on the high flying Roosters.

Nathan Cleary is set to miss at least two games for the Panthers after suffering a hamstring injury against the Broncos last week. He has been replaced in the No. 7 jersey by new recruit and former Raider Brad Schneider.

The second change the Panthers have made to the side that beat Brisbane is son of a gun Mavrik Geyer replacing the injured Scott Sorensen (knee).

It’s been an emotional week for the Geyer family, with Mavrik’s dad Mark, a Panthers legend, expressing how proud he is of his son, who resisted offers from other clubs in order to one day debut for the club his dad played 135 games for.

That day has finally come, with the 23-year-old Geyer to begin the game on the bench, with Liam Garner promoted to the starting side.

The Roosters have been notoriously slow starters in recent seasons, but not this year, with Trent Robinson’s men winning two of their first three.

Sandon Smith, who filled in for Luke Keary (head knock), was arguably one of the best afield in the huge win over Souths last week.

However, an elbow injury means he’ll spend some time on the sidelines with Keary slotting back into the No. 6 jersey.

Origin prop Lindsay Collins is a big out for the Roosters with a hamstring strain. Terrell May will start in his place with Egan Butcher coming into the 17.

Roosters fullback and skipper James Tedesco has been in super form, currently second in Dally M voting after three rounds.
