Two people were seriously injured in an accident on the A6 near Lelystad on the night of Wednesday to Thursday. As a result, the highway between Lelystad Noord and Lelystad was closed for hours. The two seriously injured people were taken to hospital.

During the accident, a truck and a passenger car collided. It appears the car crashed into the back of the truck. Footage shows that the damage to the car is extensive.

In addition to the police and ambulance, the fire brigade was also called. He had to cut one of the two occupants out of the car. The cause of the accident is unknown.

Hours of salvage work
After the accident, salvage work was underway for a long time. The road was fully open again around 7:00 am.

A spokesperson for Rijkswaterstaat cannot say why it took hours to clear the highway. However, recovering a truck is always more difficult than recovering a car.

During the closure, motorists were advised to drive via Zwolle and Amersfoort on the N50, A28 and A1. Traffic jams arose on the highway and on roads in the area.
