A serious crash at high speed in Dwars door Vlaanderen seems to have serious consequences for Wout van Aert. Just under 70 kilometers from the finish, a group including Mads Pedersen, Jasper Stuyven and Biniam Girmay crashed hard.
Van Aert clutched his collarbone and his shoulder was badly scraped. Tears flowed from the leader of Visma – Lease a Bike, who was taken away on a stretcher just like Stuyven. Van Aert was the first to fall, as the replay shows. Serbian champion Dusan Rajovic seems to avoid a cross towards the footpath and therefore makes contact with the front wheel of our compatriot. Matteo Jorgenson escaped unscathed.
