When the sun broke through in the first week of March, my two cats were finally happy to go outside again. During the past winter months I regularly opened the door of the room to let them into our garden, but there appeared to be little interest due to the heavy rain.
Sunbathing cats
Now the sun was out and my black cat (Kaatje) was basking in the sun. My calico cat (Lientje) is more into wandering around and chasing birds. Fortunately, those birds aren’t crazy either. She can sneak so low on her legs, she is visible from far and wide. The birds almost laugh at her. And that’s a good thing, my love for cats and birds is the same. We don’t let our fluff balls wander around the neighborhood, they stay within the garden walls.
March weather
Friends often don’t believe that, but it works that way. And when I call them in, they happily walk over to continue fooling around in the house. In the near future they will alternate indoors and outdoors. The weather maps currently show all kinds of front formation far to the west of us. Cold from Greenland moves southward and collides with relatively warm air above the more southern parts of the ocean. It easily leads to the formation of depressions, which slide towards us in the current. This results in a period of changeable March weather, in which dry and wet days alternate. Before a depression passes, when the wind temporarily turns southerly, the temperature can rise nicely for a while.
