Nintendo itself is quietly starting to talk more and more about the successor to the Nintendo Switch. Previously, Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa announced that the new console would be unveiled this fiscal year, and in response to a question he told investors that it is a console that is an extension of the current Nintendo Switch.
Specifically, Furukawa was asked whether the new console, which is usually called the Nintendo Switch 2 online, will be a completely new system or will be more similar to the current Nintendo Switch. Furukawa responded that “Switch next model” is an appropriate description.
Nintendo’s new console therefore seems to be a further evolution of the Nintendo Switch, which is not immediately a surprise since rumors have been pointing in that direction for a long time. With the “Nintendo Switch 2” we seem to expect the same hybrid concept with some adjustments here and there and, above all, more power under the hood.
Not exactly something new under the sun, but it is the first time that Nintendo itself confirms that their new console will be the next iteration of the Switch.
