Aevai Health raises money to disrupt biobank data collection

--

The Amsterdam startup Aevai Health has received funding from the student venture capital fund Round One Ventures to improve the functioning of biobanks. Biobanks collect biological samples and health information from participants for use in research. Aevai Health’s chatbot Alva improves the efficiency of biobanks in collecting data from participants remotely and on-site.

Alva addresses challenges faced by biobanks, such as low survey completion rates, data collection gaps and operational inefficiencies. By turning medical surveys into interactive chatbot conversations, Alva improves data collection and participant engagement, reducing the need for extensive staff. The continuous, personalized support and hybrid functionality, which combines user assistance with data collection using artificial intelligence, ensures that participants receive empathetic, context-driven interactions.

Round One Ventures announces investment in Dembrane

In a press release, Round One announced that it will invest in start-up Dembrane. This young company is developing technology that allows seamless and easy extraction of insights from structured dialogues. They have developed their own methodology for this. The tool allows organizations to collect and use the knowledge of their members.

Steps forward

The biobanking sector is seeing a steady increase in the number of participants and biobanks, indicating a growing market and demand for reliable data collection methods. Aevai Health aims to set a new standard in this sector by providing a personalized, scalable solution that significantly improves participant experience and operational efficiency.

With the new capital, Aevai Health plans to expand its reach to biobanks across the Netherlands and explore other market opportunities. The investment is essential to develop Alva’s capabilities and ensure the company meets the complex demands of biobanks. Fennie van der Graaf, CEO of Aevai Health, was enthusiastic about the future: “This first investment is a crucial step for us. It not only supports the success of our current pilot, but also helps us win our next big customer.”
