Yuki Kempees has a lot planned for the near future. “I am working on a new album,” the 37-year-old singer tells the ANP enthusiastically. Kempees does this in addition to his performances with Kris Kross Amsterdam this summer. “It may sound pretentious, but I aim to make a very distinctive Dutch-language album.”
Kris Kross Amsterdam kicks off the festival season with three performances in three different cities on King’s Day, namely Groningen, Amsterdam and Breda. The trio can then be seen at various festivals in the Netherlands and Belgium throughout the summer. Moreover, Kempees is also working on his third book. It is a novel published by HarperCollins. “That goes very well together,” says Kempees. “The more I perform, the more creative I become.”
In 2014, Kempees published his debut novel Circles are only round if they are beautiful through Prometheus. That same year he joined Kris Kross Amsterdam. His first solo album, INDY, was released in 2020. His latest album is due out in September.
