Lenovo has announced the ThinkPad P1 Gen 7 for at least 2450 euros. The workstation laptop is the first to be equipped with thin Lpcamm2 memory modules. This type of memory is made by Micron and is based on Jedec’s CAMM2 standard.

In a press release, the manufacturer reports that the ThinkPad P1 Gen 7 will be available from June and has an Intel Core Ultra processor based on the vPro business platform. The laptop comes with ‘up to’ a Core 9 Ultra 185H processor. The CPU is paired with up to 64GB of Lpcamm2 memory. This standard is more compact than regular SO-DIMM memory sticks and at the same time consumes less power. Furthermore, these modules are not soldered to the motherboard, making them relatively easy to replace.

The laptop has a 16” screen. Users can choose between a 1080p or 1440p IPS panel, or a 4K OLED panel. The exact resolutions are not mentioned. The screen is driven by the integrated Intel GPU or an RTX 3000 Ada or RTX 4060 or 4070 from Nvidia. In terms of storage, a maximum of 8TB can be installed in the two M.2 slots with PCIe 4.0 x4 speeds.

The device measures 35.4×24.1×1.7cm and weighs 1.82kg. The laptop has a 90Wh battery. The connection options include two Thunderbolt 4, two 5 Gbit/s USB Type-A and a Gigabit Ethernet port. The image and sound are provided by HDMI 2.1 and an audio port. Networking options include a Gigabit Ethernet port and Wi-Fi 7.
