You could previously read about the Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses on Bright. These glasses followed the reasonable flop of Meta Stories, but made a bigger impression. These smart glasses now also have AI.

The Ray-Ban Meta glasses have a camera for filming and taking photos. In addition, there are speakers in the legs, so you can also use it as an open-ear headset. The glasses as they were released in September 2023 did not have any integration with AI. Meta released a beta for a limited audience shortly after launch, and now the feature is available to everyone.

MultiModal AI

The glasses now have Muti Modal AI. This means that it can recognize objects on images. You can start a search with the command “Hey Meta, look and…” after which you give the actual command. After giving the command, the glasses take a photo, upload it to the cloud, after which the AI interprets your question and comes up with an answer that is spoken through the speakers.

Our competitor from The Verge was able to test the new functionality for a while, with varying degrees of success. Not all assignments were completed successfully and there were sometimes incorrect answers. I assume that these errors will be corrected quickly. After all, AI learns very quickly.

These smart glasses from Ray-Ban and Meta are a cheaper toy than the Apple Vision Pro (no comparison, we know). The cheapest version costs $299 and that is quite a nice price.
