The claim specifically targets the iPhone 6, 7 and SE, which were launched between 2016 and 2018. Anyone who bought such a smartphone from Apple can now register for the claim. The parties argue that Apple has reduced the performance level of the smartphones through software updates. In addition, the parties claim that Apple has tried to conceal a defect in the battery of the devices through these updates.

Previously American settlement

This is not the first time that there has been concern about the deliberate slowing down of smartphones. Apple previously admitted to having done this with devices with less functioning batteries. The American tech company states that it wanted to prevent the battery from draining too quickly.

Apple previously reached a settlement of approximately 572 million euros in the United States (US) because of this action. Now a European mass claim follows. Anyone who has purchased an iPhone 6, 7 or SE can register with the claim. The parties aim for compensation of 100 euros per smartphone. If consumers have replaced their devices, this compensation may increase further. More information is available here.
