Luke Plapp new wearer of white jersey: “But I’m not going to focus on the general classification”

Luke Plapp rode a good time trial in the Giro d’Italia. The Australian rider set the seventh best time and thus did a very good job in the general classification. Plapp rises to position five and is the new leader in the youth classification. “But that is not a goal,” Plapp said.

In front of the camera Eurosport Plapp tells about his time trial. “It wasn’t my best day, but it wasn’t my worst either. In the end I am very happy with it, because I can wear the white jersey tomorrow. I’ll probably have to drop it off after tomorrow. It is not a goal to keep this jersey until Rome. I achieved my goal. Anything after today is a bonus.”

So Plapp is very happy, but remains ambitious for the next two weeks. “I want to fight for a stage win and do a good second time trial. In principle, that time trial should also suit me better. So I’m going to focus on that. In the last week I want to join the early flight a few more times. Maybe I can do that again with Julian Alaphilippe, that was great with him on Thursday,” Plapp laughed.
