Bart Verhaeghe speaks out about a penalty case against Fiorentina and has an opinion about halving the points – Football News

--

End of story for Club Brugge in the semi-finals of the Conference League. Yet chairman Bart Verhaeghe was proud of the course his team has completed. And he also looked ahead to the future.

Reaching the semi-finals in the Conference League and taking 19 out of 21 in the Jupiler Pro League? They can rightly be proud of Bruges in recent weeks. And so is the chairman of blue-black, after difficult months earlier this season.

“Fiorentina was literally older. It showed more skill and played football more maturely. Fiorentina also plays in a bigger league than ours. But we were ready in our own way. Physically and mentally,” said Bart Verhaeghe in his analysis at The newspapaer.

Halving the points remains absurd

“We ran more than Fiorentina. And then that penalty that wasn’t there was a real shame. I didn’t think the ref was at the level of a European semi-final. But come on, it wasn’t just that. We learned something new again. .”

According to Verhaeghe, everyone can rightly be proud of the course that Blue-Black has completed. And now to finish in the competition? The chairman of blue-black still has something to say about the play-offs and the halving of the points.

“My opinion has not changed because we are now in this situation. I continue to think that halving is a sporting absurdity. It is simply not correct. But we are in this situation. Then we will try not to give it up anymore.”
