The conditions for the purchase option have been completed, and so Koni De Winter (21) will permanently move from Juventus to Genoa. The Red Devil is now under contract until 2028.

To make the transfer official, Koni De Winter had to play 45 minutes for Genoa in at least 23 games. That has been fine for a while, the defender is a permanent fixture in the Italian mid-range. But an additional element was that Genoa had to be sure of its preservation. That has only been the case since Monday evening: Genoa defeated Cagliari 3-0, making the gap with the relegation places unbridgeable. Genoa has been saved.

The result is that De Winter has now become a Genoa player and the purchase option has come into effect. Juventus, which loaned the Antwerp player to Genoa, receives eight million euros. Not a large amount, De Winter’s transfer value is estimated at around ten million euros. The player himself is now under contract with Genoa until 2028.

De Winter hopes for a selection for the European Championships next summer. He was there at the previous international match against Ireland and England and made a good impression.
