Anderlecht managed to bounce back this week after last weekend’s embarrassing display in Genk. They easily beat Cercle Brugge 3-0 on Wednesday and thus retained their leading position in the Jupiler Pro League. Yet it was not a completely carefree evening for RSCA.
After all, they again had to deal with injuries, after they lost Thorgan Hazard earlier in these play-offs with a serious knee injury. Halfway through the match, Anderlecht had already lost Anders Dreyer and Kasper Schmeichel this time.
No major damage at Dreyer and Schmeichel
The first one was added about ten minutes before half time after a sprint duel. He was briefly treated on the field, but soon staggered towards the dressing room. Schmeichel also stayed there during half-time, allowing Colin Coosemans to make his debut under the crossbar.
After the final whistle, Anderlecht showed themselves to be quite optimistic about the condition of the two Danish strongmen, but in recent days it was still anxious to wait and see what the precise diagnosis would be.
