Huge surprise! Not Broos or Dury, but Vanhaezebrouck is the top candidate to become Technical Director of Club Brugge – Football News

--

Hein Vanhaezebrouck will stop as coach of KAA Gent after the season. However, it is nonsense that he will also leave the football world. Even more: discussions with another Belgian top club are ongoing.

Hein Vanhaezebrouck was informed about two months ago that a contract extension at KAA Gent was not an option. Sam Baro wants a structure with coach and technical director. In practice, Vanhaezebrouck wears both hats.

The outgoing coach of The Buffalos however, did not give up. In recent weeks, Vanhaezebrouck sat around the table several times with Bart Verhaeghe and Bob Madou. Nice to know: the former coach of RSC Anderlecht was already linked to Club Brugge.

However, there is little chance that Vanhaezebrouck will actually work as a coach at the Jan Breydel Stadium. Karel Geraerts, Ruud van Nistelrooy and especially Nicky Hayen are the three remaining names to succeed that seat in the dugout.

Club Brugge sees Vanhaezebrouck as the ideal man to become the new Technical Director. Hugo Broos and Francky Dury have also been mentioned for that position, but Verhaeghe sees Vanhaezebrouck as a better match. The job description in particular is tailor-made for him.

The blue-black Technical Director should not concern himself with transfers and contract extensions, but is the sounding board of the coach and must ensure that the DNA of Club Brugge is respected by the coach. Would Hein also see himself in this? To be continued, no doubt.
