Anderlecht’s first half hour was (once again) not at champion level. It was another recital of misunderstandings, sloppy passes, loss of ball… You know, the familiar image of a team that plays football as if it has no agreements and patterns in possession of the ball, and just does whatever. A team that relies on defensive stability. Cercle Brugge had the ball and, quite nicely, knocked it around to Anderlecht’s sixteen meters, but could not find any solutions there. Denkey could have gone head-to-head with Vertonghen once, but he put the ball back rather than go his own way — Denkey is upset.
