OH Leuven had a turbulent season, in which many veterans left the club. It started with the departure of CEO Peter Willems and then trainer Marc Brys was also fired and head of youth training Henk Mariman opted for a challenge at Anderlecht. Now they lose another important pawn to Den Dreef.

The team that makes the sporting decisions has already lost three of its five pawns and now only technical director Ariël Jacobs remains. After all, OHL now also sees Eddy Vanhemel leaving.

OHL now also loses Vanhemel

The 54-year-old has worked as Head of Academy Coaching in recent years and has so far also coached the U23s, who are competing nationally for the first time. In October and November he was also interim head coach of the A-team. During that period he won two of his four matches.

Vanhemel will now start working at KRC Genk. There he is appointed head of football and youth development. It is a return to his home country for him, because he had already worked there in the past as a coordinator of the upper grades and trainer of the U17.

Genk brings him back

“In concrete terms, we expect Eddy to further develop our football DNA with attractive and attacking football that we stand for as KRC Genk,” explains Director of Training Roland Breugelmans.

“In addition, he will provide even better guidance to the many trainers we have in putting these principles into practice. As a teacher of the Uefa A course at Voetbal Vlaanderen, he is a reference in the Belgian football world. In short, he is the ideal man to to further shape the future of KRC Genk.”
