A remarkable course change seems to be in the making a few days before the Hell of the North. The Paris-Roubaix organization is considering installing chicanes in front of the Forest of Wallers. Traditionally, the riders arrive at high speeds, which last year resulted in a battlefield for Dylan van Baarle and Kasper Asgreen, among others.
Another 5 sleeps and then the strongest classic riders will tackle the cobblestones in Northern France again.
Many teams – including the unfortunate Wout van Aert – did their homework well in advance with a course reconnaissance. However, it looks like the 2024 Paris-Roubaix will have a change.
For the 2.3 kilometers of the trouée d’Arenberg, or the Forest of Wallers, the organization is considering installing a chicane to reduce the speed of the oncoming peloton.
Traditionally it is very high, because the approach is slightly downhill. Last year, Kasper Asgreen and Dylan van Baarle – who broke his hand and shoulder – were victims of a serious fall.
