Bail of 1 million euros after appeal in rape case? No problem for former Barcelona superstar – Football News

--

Dani Alves’ case was decided a month ago. And things have ended badly for the former Barcelona superstar. He was sentenced to years in prison, but he appealed. Now he is free for a while.

Sentences of up to nine years in prison were requested for Dani Alves, but he was ultimately sentenced to 4.5 years in prison. Alves himself denied the facts, but was still found guilty in the case that was pronounced more than a month ago.

Dani Alves on Appeal

The public prosecutor wanted him to pay 150,000 euros in compensation to the victim and the Provincial Court of Barcelona fully agreed. The 40-year-old Brazilian is said to have held the woman captive for fifteen minutes.

Dani Alves won the Champions League three times with Barcelona and has a total of 42 prizes to his name. He could still appeal against the sentence and has now indicated that he will do so.

Bail of 1 million euros paid pending appeal

In the meantime, he has been allowed to leave his cell in Spain pending his appeal. He did this after paying a deposit.

That was set at no less than 1 million euros, but that was apparently no problem for the former Barcelona superstar.
