For the first time since they set foot in Malmö, Mustii and Joost Klein rehearsed for their second semi-final with the press in the room. Mustii takes office after the energetic Georgia and her Firefighterfollowed by the weirdos of Estonia.

Not an easy job, but Thomas Mustin – as Mustii is known in everyday life – was able to instill confidence. That is clearly evident. It sounds confident, clean and powerful. The microphones from the clip are now also included, just like the white outfit that was shown earlier. Fragments from the clip can be seen as visuals. Moreover, the ending sounds repetitive Before the party’s over sing-song, and not shouty, as was feared for a while. A small downside: the technology failed for a while. After a few seconds the platform refused to rotate any further, and the smoke machines were also not running at full speed.

What about Joost?

The second semi-final is filled with strong candidates. Like Switzerland, with Nemo, who brings winning material with them The code. Our northern neighbors (and our country is also a big fan) looked forward with hope to the arrival of Joost and his Europapa. The song, filled with happycore and gabber influences, has gone viral and is the most listened to song of the Eurovision Song Contest.

Surprisingly enough, the Dutch’s first dress rehearsal was disappointing. He can barely be heard above his backing vocals in the catchy chorus. What was heard did not always sound convincing. With the ending he tries to touch a nerve, which he succeeds in. Yet there was despair in the room. The impressive Norway is also programmed for Joost. Folk rock at its best, and Gåte’s frontwoman has a hell of a voice. This one will also be one to keep an eye on.

Attention to safety

Also in that second semi-final: Eden Golan, Israel’s candidate. Today she was on stage with an audience for the first time, tonight she will do so for the first time with a real audience. It remains to be seen what that will mean, because participation is sensitive due to the current war in Gaza.

It was striking that a number of safety regulations were given in the hall before the rehearsals started. Where the emergency exits were, for example, and that security personnel could be contacted if something were to occur. Something that did not happen last Monday during the rehearsals of the first semi-final. So the nerves are on edge.

Despite the controversy, it does appear that Golan and her Hurricane will qualify. The bookmakers gave her a place in the top ten, and she did well at rehearsals.
