ShowbizAmazement in the world of beauty pageants. Miss USA Noelia Voigt (27) has unexpectedly announced that she is resigning her crown, just seven months after her victory. In a statement, she announced that she made this “difficult decision” in the interest of her mental health. But according to her fans, there is more to it.

It was her big childhood dream, but it seems to end in a nightmare. When Noelia Voigt was elected the new Miss USA in September last year, she couldn’t believe her luck. “I am completely speechless. After seven years of chasing this dream, it has finally become reality.” But after just seven months the fairy tale is over: the 27-year-old Miss with Venezuelan roots from Utah hands in her crown again.

In a statement on social media, Noelia said she was ready for a new start and made her decision to safeguard her mental health. “Deep down, I know this is just the beginning of a new chapter for me, and I hope I continue to inspire others to stay steadfast and put your mental health first,” it said. “Continue to stand up for yourself and others by using your voice, and never fear what the future holds, even when it seems uncertain.” Voigt further writes that she realizes that her resignation “could come as a great shock to many” and advises everyone to “never endanger your physical and mental well-being.”

The Miss USA organization has now expressed its support for Noelia’s decision and confirmed that a search is underway for a successor. A spokesperson emphasized that “the well-being of our title holders is a top priority” and that they understand Voigt’s “need to put himself first at this time.” The name of her successor will be announced in the coming days.

More going on?

However, her fans and followers are convinced that there is more to it. There was plenty of speculation on social media about a possible message hidden in her announcement. Indeed, several users suggested that the first letter of each sentence in the first paragraph spelled out “I am silenced.” However, Voigt has not confirmed whether that message was intentional and did not respond to requests for additional comment, according to the US Press.

Furthermore, Noelia’s decision to step down comes just three days after another resignation, that of Claudia Michelle, who managed Miss USA’s social media. After her dismissal, she declared that the organizing committee is a “toxic workplace”, spoke of “workplace bullying” and said title holders “must be heard and not silenced”.

She even referenced Noelia Voigt’s situation directly: “I have had the privilege of working closely with Noelia and have unfortunately seen a decline in her mental health since we first met,” said Michelle. However, the Miss USA organizing committee dismissed those words as “false accusations” and asserted that the organization is “committed to fostering a safe, inclusive and supportive environment.”
