“A caring mother, with a backpack”: mother of five kills partner (Domestic)

A 34-year-old man was killed in a stabbing in an apartment in Julius De Geyterstraat on the border of Hoboken and Kiel in Antwerp on Sunday morning. His partner was arrested. This concerns 32-year-old KDW, mother of five children.

Emergency services were sent to the apartment complex a stone’s throw from the Olympic Stadium just before 6 a.m. on Sunday morning. One of the residents had killed her partner there with a knife. The victim was fatally hit in the neck region. After the incident, the woman called several people, including an ex-boyfriend, who in turn alerted the emergency services. The Antwerp public prosecutor’s office cannot yet provide much information about the context of the facts.

The 32-year-old resident was arrested on the spot. It concerns KDW, a mother of five children. The woman’s family reacts shocked to the facts and describes K. as a sweet and caring mother, with a ‘backpack’. “We didn’t expect this, we don’t know her like that.”

The victim is her 34-year-old current boyfriend. He was not registered at the address in Julius De Geyterstraat. At least one of the woman’s children was present in the home at the time of the incident, but it is not clear to what extent the child witnessed the fatal stabbing. The victim is said to have occasionally slept in the apartment, the neighbors never noticed any arguments between K. and the man, and there was nothing remarkable on Saturday night or Sunday morning either. According to one neighbor, the victim may have been under the influence.

Murder

The public prosecutor’s office has requested an investigating judge for facts of murder, the laboratory of the federal judicial police arrived on the scene on Sunday for a trace investigation, and an autopsy on the victim’s body will follow. Suspect K. was taken away by the police on Sunday, and after an initial interrogation she will be brought before the investigating judge. The cause of the facts is not yet clear.

The facts took place in a reception apartment of the Center for Integrated Family Care (CIG) De Stobbe, an organization located a little further down the street and which guides families with young children in a difficult parenting situation. The organization does not wish to comment on the facts on Sunday. The public prosecutor’s office reports that care was provided for K.’s children.
