“I’m devastated”: Ziggy’s ‘American Idol’ adventure from ‘K2 seeks K3’ is over | Showbiz

SHOWBIZZThe curtain has fallen for the Dutch Ziggy Krassenberg (22), known from ‘K2 seeks K3’, in ‘American Idol’. In a decisive round, Ziggy sang against the British Mackenzie Sol. With pain in the heart, jury member Katy Perry (39) said goodbye to the Dutch singer. “We love you.”

It was a difficult episode for judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan. They could not make a choice between the Dutch Ziggy Krassenberg and his British opponent Mackenzie Sol. That’s why they added an extra round in which the very last place in the next round was given away. The men competed with each other with the song ‘Jealous’ by Labrinth.

And that actually created even more doubts among the jury. “They are both very good,” Katy Perry mused during a meeting with her colleagues. But on Monday evening a candidate really had to go home. “You must be very proud of yourself, you were so pure and real,” Perry turned to Ziggy. “That’s really going to take you to higher places.”

Praise

The jury ultimately chose Mackenzie Sol. Ziggy hugged his opponent. “You did it Mackenzie!” The Dutchman was not allowed to leave without some final words of praise from Katy Perry and Lionel Richie. “Ziggy, you are a star,” said the ‘Last Friday Night’ singer. “Your family will always be here on ‘American Idol,’” Richie added. Perry: “We love you.”

When Ziggy stands in front of the camera after the decision, he emotionally explains how he feels: “I am completely devastated by this decision. I work so hard to be who I am and I’m so proud of myself.”

Krassenberg also participated in ‘Idols’, ‘The Voice of Holland’ and ‘K2zoekt K3’ in the Netherlands. His participation in the American talent show is a dream come true. Because Ziggy has aspired to a music career in the United States since he was little, he told ‘AD’ before. “I had examples like Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande and Beyoncé. I think I fit in much better there. In the Netherlands the mindset is faster: ‘what the farmer doesn’t know, he doesn’t eat’. I have a great personality and am very outspoken, which is much more interesting in America.”

‘American Idol’ is in its 22nd season. On average, between 4 and 5 million Americans watch the show every week. The program has produced two Grammy Award winners: Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood.
