The book is advertised as “easy to read” with “large print” and a “sleek design” that “invites you to explore God’s word anywhere, anytime.” Trump’s Bible also includes the U.S. Constitution, the Bill of Rights, the Declaration of Independence, and the Pledge of Allegiance.
It is not clear whether he wants to finance his fines with the proceeds from the sale, but the timing is remarkable. Trump has been imposed one monster fine after another in various lawsuits. Last Monday he was told that he must cough up 175 million dollars (about 161 million euros) within ten days. Earlier this month he paid a bail of 92 million dollars (85 million euros) after he lost the defamation case involving writer E. Jean Carroll. She had accused him of sexual assault. The Bibles are said to be “not political” and “have nothing to do with a political campaign,” according to the website GodBlessTheUSABible.com.
The website where the books are sold is not owned by Trump, nor is it managed or controlled by him. They would use his name and images under a paid license. It is not known whether and how much the ex-president will be paid for the sale of the books.
This ‘God Bless the USA’ Bible is not the first item the presidential candidate is selling. Last month he announced Trump sneakers for no less than 399 dollars (approximately 370 euros): the Never Surrender High Tops.
