Moroccan-American rapper French Montana, known for hits such as “Pop That” and “Unforgettable”, has performed the Umrah, the small pilgrimage to Mecca, with his mother.

He shared photos and videos on social media from his stay in Saudi Arabia, where he observed the rituals of Umrah with his family.

French Montana, whose real name is Karim Kharbouch, was born in Casablanca and moved to the Bronx in New York at the age of 13. There he became fascinated by hip-hop culture and started his musical career with mixtapes and street DVDs.

He made his breakthrough with his collaboration with Max B and later signed with Diddy’s record label, Bad Boy Records. He also collaborated with other big names in the rap industry, such as Drake, Lil Wayne and Rick Ross.

French Montana is known for his pride in his Moroccan heritage. In November last year he celebrated his 39th birthday with a Moroccan-style party, where he treated his guests to exotic animals, oriental dancers and Moroccan dishes.

Last year he also released a documentary, “For Khadija,” in tribute to his mother, who raised him alone after his father abandoned them. The film tells the story of his rise as a successful rapper and his search for the American dream.
