Star Wars is coming to theaters very soon with a new, dark and mysterious adventure, if you get there in time. Meet a new Sith Lord and a Matrix star as Jedi in the promising The Acolyte. The show is brought exclusively to the cinema by Pathé for one day.

Rest assured, you won’t have to spend as long in the cinema as last week’s Star Wars marathon. Only the first two episodes of The Acolyte are shown in Pathé.

Star Wars: The Acolyte is coming to Disney+

In the cinema it remains eerily quiet for the time being when it comes to Star Wars films. Sure, there’s a lot in the pipeline, but Lucasfilm is clearly taking it slow. In fact, several already announced Star Wars films have been canceled.

Fortunately, the universe created by George Lucas remains alive on Disney+. There goes on June 5 The Acolyte kicks off, one of the most promising pieces of Star Wars media of the past decade, if only because Disney finally dares to delve into a completely different era: The High Republic. A hundred years before The Phantom Menace. No Luke Skywalker, no Darth Vader.

But what then? That remains wonderfully mysterious for the time being. We know that The Acolyte an eight-part ‘mystery thriller will be the showrunner behind the Netflix hit, with Leslye Headland at the helm Russian Doll. The show follows a group of Jedi as they investigate a series of mysterious murders. More murder mystery than intergalactic war, then.

We also know that the plot of the Star Wars series has something to do with a secret plot by the Sith to wipe out the Jedi once and for all and a mysterious warrior named Mae, played by Amandla Stenberg from Bodies Bodies Bodies.

Who is the new Sith lord?!

The most recent trailer of The Acolyte made fans ecstatic in recent days. Not because of the Jedi, but because of the fact that the short video introduced us to a new Sith Lord with a terrifying mask. No, not Kylo Ren or Darth Vader, because the show takes place a century ago Episode I: The Phantom Menace off.

That also means it can’t be a young Palpatine. Palpatine’s master, Darth Plagueis, is a good option, as is his master, Darth Tenebrous. Both are central to the fantastic book Star Wars: Darth Plagueisa must-see for any Star Wars fan.

Anyway, back to The Acolyte. It’s clear that the ambitious show is shrouded in a lot of mystery. Luckily, you don’t have to wait all the way until June 5 to get answers.

Matrix star Carrie-Anne Moss as Jedi Master

The most famous face from the cast of The Acolyte is Carrie-Anne Moss, inseparable from her role in TheMatrix. She plays Indara, a Jedi Master skilled in ‘force-fu’ combat. Creator Leslye Headland immediately wanted the audience to feel like Indara was “the most powerful Jedi in the room.”

Headland was inspired by the portrayal of Trinity in TheMatrixfilm series in creating the character. She hopes the audience sees Indara a bit like “Trinity with a lightsaber”.
