The Netherlands Under 18 booked a handsome 3-1 victory on Friday against their peers from Belgium, you can read at Our orange. The team of head coach Mischa Visser still fell behind, but then recovered nicely. It was revenge for the previous defeat of the Netherlands U18 against England.

The 0-1 defeat against England meant a false start to the international match and a false start followed on Friday. Even before the drinking break after 22 minutes, the Belgians were on a 0-1 lead, but that did not last long. During the drinking break, the technical staff put the finishing touches on the i and that quickly paid off. Even before halftime, the Netherlands U18 managed to turn the 0-1 deficit into a 2-1 lead.

‘In the first part of the first half it sometimes seemed as if a blanket of lethargy hung over us’, says trainer Visser. “We took the water break to fix some things that weren’t going well in the back. After that it was handled very well. We played with a higher intensity, were better defensively and therefore got a grip on the opponent ourselves. The game image changed completely, in a positive sense for us.’

Even after the break, the Orange U18 was the better team on the field, but it took a while before the 3-1 fell. As a result, Belgium remained in the game. It was Vitesse left back Kaya Symons who took care of the liberating goal. After this, the Netherlands was not really in danger anymore and so a comfortable victory was booked.
