The Belgians showed themselves better than their Albanian opponents throughout the first half, but were unable to convert their dominance into goals. The goal came quickly in the second half. Anderlecht player Noah Sadiki (47.) put the assist of his club mate Mario Stroeykens in the goal. However, Thierry Siquet’s team had to start again quickly, because Dario Daka (51.) brought Albania alongside again just after the opening goal.
Just after the hour, Stroeykens (64.) was again involved in a goal. With the assist of substitute Norman Basette, he made it 2-1 against the ropes. At the end of the match, Club NXT player Romeo Vermant (90.+6) completely secured the victory.
Due to the disqualification of Russia, group 7 with Belgium, Albania and Spain only has three teams. Belgium will meet Spain next Tuesday.
The top two teams from each group in the first qualifying round advance to the elite round. There, the teams can definitively qualify for the European Championship, which takes place from March 20 to 28 in Malta.
Every year UEFA organizes a European Championship for teams under 19 years of age. The previous edition was won by England. Belgium stranded in the elite round.
