Two young Germans, aged 17 and 18, were arrested on Tuesday evening after they made off with an Audi RS6 in Rotselaar. The owner had made an agreement with the Germans to sell his car. After a short tour, the suspects retrieved a firearm and left by car. The police gave chase and were able to apprehend the suspects in Westerlo.

The man from Rotselaar had made an appointment with potential buyers of his Audi RS6. Once he drove the car out and did a little tour with the buyers, things went wrong. One of the suspects pulled out a firearm and threatened the victim. When he defended himself, he got some serious blows and kicks. The two young offenders drove off in the vehicle. The victim immediately notified the police.

Extremely high speed

Police BRT (Begijnendijk, Rotselaar En Tremelo) immediately went looking for the stolen car. Agents soon found the car at a gas station in Aarschot. When the perpetrators caught sight of the police, they fled at extremely high speed. Agents from surrounding areas were ready and a helicopter was even deployed. After a real chase, the Germans abandoned the car at a cornfield and fled on foot into a forest.

With the help of the helicopter, the young men did not get very far. The first suspect surrendered after officers held him at gunpoint, but the second fled deeper into the woods. Moments later, the police caught him too. The public prosecutor of Leuven has today brought both young men before the investigating judge, who will lead the investigation further. The minor suspect will have to answer to the juvenile court.
