Antwerp district mayor Paul Cordy will again run for N-VA in the Antwerp district on October 13. District Councilor Charlie Van Leuffel is in second place. “The work is not finished yet,” says Cordy.

Paul Cordy (57) has been in charge of the Antwerp district since 2024. And if it depends on him and the local branch of N-VA, he will remain so after the district council elections in October. The members recently approved the list of candidates and election manifesto, with Cordy as party leader. “I have managed the district with great enthusiasm in recent years and that fire is far from extinguished,” says Cordy. “The work is not yet finished and the ambition to start up a whole series of projects and bring them to a successful conclusion is great.”

In second place is Charlie Van Leuffel (34), who has served as district councilor for Sports and Communication since 2019. She wants to commit herself again in the coming years to getting Antwerp residents moving. “In recent years we have improved our sports infrastructure and, together with our sports clubs and partners, we have provided dozens of great sports activities,” says Van Leuffel. “I want to continue doing that.”

Chairman of the district council Marita Wuyts (63) takes third place. She has been a district councilor since 2013 and has chaired the council since 2019. Her focus is on Antwerp seniors. “I help ensure a social policy in which attention to seniors, social problems and more decisive action in the event of nuisance are important,” says Wuyts.

Bart Steyaert (62), district councilor and also chairman of the local N-VA chapter, is in fourth place. “I want to contribute locally to make our district even more beautiful and better,” he says.

And Rani De Leeneer (28) closes the top five. She must represent the voice of the young people in the district council. “I especially want to work for a lively and vibrant district with room for entrepreneurship,” she says.

N-VA will announce the program and the rest of the Antwerp electoral list after the Flemish, European and federal elections on June 9.
