The organization of Mister Gay Belgium has presented its Golden 12 or its finalists for the 2024 edition. Half of the men come from the province of Antwerp. Edegem resident Ivan Selleslaghs, at 53, is the oldest among the twelve.
It is a special edition for Mister Gay Belgium. For the tenth time in a row, the competition is looking for a man with charisma who should be an ambassador for LGBTQI themes.
Twelve finalists were chosen from the 93 entries. They can call themselves the Golden 12. Edegem has a representative in the final with Ivan Selleslaghs (53). The finalists always choose a theme that they want to put in the spotlight. For Ivan, this is loneliness among LGBT people over 50.
Tackling loneliness
“Research shows that LGBT people my age experience a lot of loneliness. Even though everyone has profiles on social media, there is a need for real human contacts. With my participation I want to bring the no longer so young LGBT+ together again to break the loneliness,” says Ivan Selleslaghs during his performance.
The winner of Mister Gay Belgium 2024 will be chosen in Antwerp on Saturday, August 24. (fisp)
