Luxair will cancel its flights between Deurne and London from June 3 – just a year and a half after the first flight. According to the Luxembourg airline, the reason for this is a shortage of staff.

Anyone who wants to travel to London from Antwerp will have to take the train or bus from June. Eighteen months after Luxair put the Deurne-London connection back on the map, the airline is canceling all flights from Deurne from June 3. Tickets will be canceled and refunded. From June it will no longer be possible to fly from Deurne to London, because there is no other airline that offers this connection.

Only destination

“We have been informed by Luxair that this decision was made due to a staff shortage,” said Tom Rutsaert, spokesperson at Antwerp Airport. “Luxair has new aircraft in which current staff need to be trained, so they had to make choices in their route network. Luxair operates most flights from Luxembourg, so they stopped the only destination from Belgium.”

It is not yet known whether this decision is temporary or permanent. “Luxair talked about an interruption: we don’t know how long it will be and whether it is permanent or not,” said Rutsaert. “They are open to seeing whether new collaboration is possible in the future, whether or not on the same route.”
