Teacher from Broederschool in Stekene arrested after inappropriate messages to minors (Stekene)

A teacher from the Broederschool in Stekene was arrested by the police after complaints about inappropriate behavior with a minor. It involves sending inappropriate messages via social media. The man has since been released under conditions by the investigating judge.

The Broederschool received a complaint on Monday from a parent of a victim. The teacher sent inappropriate messages to the minor. The school immediately started disciplinary proceedings and decided to suspend the man with immediate effect. In the meantime, a complaint had also been filed with the police, who arrested the man. He later appeared before the investigating judge who released him on conditions.

“He was removed from the workplace,” says director Katty Moeykens of the Broederschool. “In recent days we have focused on supporting and guiding the students and teachers.”

Multiple victims?

She also states that the minor is not a student at the school. The public prosecutor’s office confirms that an investigation into the man is underway, but is still sparse with information for the time being. It is not clear whether he killed multiple victims. In his environment, the man is known as a talker who likes to be in the spotlight. He reportedly had a reputation for regularly communicating with his students via social media.
