Walter Grootaers (69) is slowly making his return to the podium after he was diagnosed with cancer. This is evident from a photo he shared on social media.

Something that was not possible for a while after health problems surfaced last year. Just before the summer, liver cancer was diagnosed. The Kreuners then pulled the plug for a while, so that Grootaers could be treated in peace.

In November, he showed during a telephone interview on Radio 1 that his recovery was going in the right direction. “The operation is over, and it went well. Now I have to follow immunotherapy for a while, but it looks good.” Then he also expressed his hope to be back on stage at the end of this year or early 2025.
