Minister Ben Weyts indicated more than a year ago that he wanted to bring the 2027 World Cup to Flanders. The prayer has now been officialised. Although there are also competitors, they are dropping out one by one. We’ll know soon if we’ll make it.

Update: of the three original competitors, only one survives. The US and Mexico have now also turned their tables and no longer want to organize the 2027 World Cup – they may see few opportunities a year after the men’s World Cup.

In this way, Brazil is the only remaining competition for the Flames, Germany and the Netherlands. The chances may have become smaller if the North American countries support Brazil at the congress. We will know more on May 17.

The Red Flames are growing in popularity and motivate many young girls to start playing football. That is why Ben Weyts wants to try to bring the Women’s Football World Cup to Flanders. Belgium, together with the Netherlands and Germany, submitted a bid for the 2027 World Cup.

Brazil and US/Mexico were the two competitors for the Low Countries and Germany. In the meantime, the campaign to bring the World Cup to our country has officially started. At the beginning of this year, FIFA visited Belgium to view the stadiums.
