UPDATEA 34-year-old man was killed in Antwerp in the early morning on Sunday. This happened in an apartment of the Center for Integrated Family Care (CIG) De Stobbe in Julius De Geyterstraat. The victim’s partner, a 32-year-old woman and mother of five, was arrested by police. She will probably be brought before the investigating judge on Monday on charges of murder. It is unclear exactly what happened. The woman is described on social media as a wonderful mother.
The facts took place early in the morning. “A fatal stabbing occurred,” confirms Kristof Aerts of the public prosecutor’s office in Antwerp. “The victim is a 34-year-old man. The 32-year-old woman was arrested after the facts. The facts fit into the family atmosphere.” The woman was reportedly arrested after she called an acquaintance after the incident. During the morning, the investigating judge and the laboratory arrived on site. The area was reopened during the afternoon.
The public prosecutor’s office was unable to provide more details. There would have been a stab in the neck region that was inflicted. The suspect who was arrested is a mother of five children, KDW. At least one child was present in the apartment at the time of the facts. It is not clear whether the victim was the father of one of the children. The man was the suspect’s current partner. “The woman is still being interrogated and will probably be brought before the investigating judge on Monday. The necessary care was immediately arranged for the suspect’s children.”
We tried to contact KDW’s family, but they did not respond. On her social media she is described as a good mother who would do anything for her children. Lately, according to her own reports, she seemed to have found happiness again after a difficult period. In 2023, she became a mother for the fifth time.
Nothing heard
CIG, Center for Integrated Family Care, is an organization that guides families with young children in difficult parenting situations. “We are extremely shocked by the facts,” he said. “But we obviously cannot comment on the circumstances.” No one in the neighborhood seems to know the family, but they react in disbelief to what happened in the building with the CIG apartments. The residents of the apartment are also not allowed by the CIG to comment on the facts. No one would have heard anything about an argument.
