The E313 from Hasselt towards Antwerp was completely blocked on Friday afternoon near Geel, due to a collision between a mobile home and a truck. Two people were injured, one of them in life-threatening condition. In the meantime, an accident also happened in the direction of Hasselt.

Two occupants of the mobile home were taken to hospital with serious injuries. One of them is in mortal danger. The public prosecutor’s office is still considering whether a traffic expert will make observations about the circumstances.

The Traffic Center asks people to avoid the area, because the blockage is already causing a 9 kilometer long traffic jam and waiting times of more than an hour at around 12.30 pm. Locally you have to leave the highway in Geel-Oost to drive back on it in Geel-West, but that is very difficult.

For longer distances from Hasselt to Antwerp and Ghent, a detour via Brussels is the best alternative, says the Traffic Center. In the Netherlands, where the school holidays are just starting, it is recommended to drive from the Maastricht region via Eindhoven and the E34 to Antwerp.
