TVMore and more women and men are opting for aesthetic surgery, and research shows that demand will only increase in the coming years. In the second season of the Streamz documentary ‘Chasing Beauty: the price of perfection?’ Lesley-Ann Poppe, Jitske Van de Veire and Pommeline Tillière, among others, want to highlight the dark side of plastic interventions.
The new episodes once again tell the story of eight women and men who have an appointment in the operating room. Ranging from an extreme procedure in which ribs are removed to achieve a slimmer waist to creating a six-pack with your own fat. Although this also causes them to be criticized more and more often and some also regret their previously impulsive decisions.
Lesley-Ann Poppe would rather turn back the clock. At first she thought she had found heaven on earth with Ozempic, a drug for diabetes patients with which she lost the kilos in record time. But not much later she immediately learned the downsides. “I was really stupid then. I’m not going to hide that anymore. I now understand that the government has banned it for people who have no problems. There is now a shortage of the drug, so there are people risking their lives because others want to be slim.”

And Pommeline Tillière is also in the same boat. After her appearance in ‘Temptation Island’ she was persuaded by the many offers of plastic surgery. For example, she underwent a BBL for bigger buttocks. “That all just hurt a lot,” the documentary says.

Jitske Van de Veire was never persuaded to undergo any form of plastic surgery. Her Instagram account is all about her unfiltered body and self-love. Yet it is not always that easy for her and she also has insecurities. “There are certainly days when I don’t feel well and when I become insecure again,” she admits. “I would like to look in the mirror and find some kind of peace.”
