‘Love for music’ focuses on Clouseau and their 40 years of hits on Tuesday. Koen Wauters (56) talks to his pupil Laura Tesoro about the break with Valerie De Booser. “I didn’t know quiet could be so quiet.”

The tenth anniversary of Love for music coincides with forty years of Clouseau. So Koen and Kris Wauters did not have to think about their participation. No artist in the program has such a broad body of work, which made it easy for the others to choose. Or just difficult, that’s also possible. Laura Tesoro, Koen Wauters’s partner, chose an unknown song from Clouseau’s latest album: Quiet.

“I heard the demo of the song for the first time during Belgium’s got talent, and that touched me,” says Tesoro. “I know Koen well. He is always in a good mood, but suddenly I heard him singing so personally. I wasn’t good about that. ‘I didn’t know that silence could be so quiet’: what a sentence. It is the most beautiful Clouseau text I have ever read.”

With her version she literally silences Koen. The singer explains how the song emerged from his divorce with Valerie De Booser four years ago. “That song is about a long period of time, a year in my life,” he says. “I’m divorced, you’re at home in a big house and the very first time the children were with Valerie, it was awful. Then I literally thought: I didn’t know quiet could be so quiet. But over time you feel that you have to move on. I was extra emotional by Laura’s performance. Her parents have also separated, she has seen it from the other side.”

Also hits like From the inside, Domino and Passion appear in the episode. The biggest contrast comes from Regi’s camp: he stings I do not want you to leave in dance version. “I am in shock,” said Kris Wauters. “I didn’t know this was possible.” Clouseau himself plays the hit they scored on their first participation: I want you backtheir cover of I want you back from Natalia.
