Gen Z and the baby boomers are two quite different generations. Their views on growing older are different. And which generation do you think is the most active? Yep, that turns out to be the boomers.

These differences between generations are regularly highlighted. Previously wrote Subway why Gen Z has so much stress and which industry they prefer to work in.

When does Gen Z consider someone ‘old’?

For a British study, true The Independent writes about, researchers looked at differences between generations. And in particular Gen Z, those born between 1997 and 2012, and the Baby Boomers, those born between 1946 and 1964, were scrutinized.

The participants under 27 think that you are around 50 years old. Boomers, on the other hand, see this very differently. Two-thirds of participating boomers feel younger than they actually are. The argument: ’60 is the new 40′ was therefore given. Participants also stated that they still maintained an active lifestyle and that this was due to their youthful spirit.

Boomers appear to be active

Of all generations, the boomers appear to be the most active. Outside of work, they spend an average of four hours more outdoors than young adults and millennials. For example, 56 percent spent time on exercise, while 39 percent of young people (18 to 27 years) did so.

In addition, it turned out that the boomer travels more often and explores exotic new locations. That’s according to The Independent probably a benefit of retirement or because their career path has crystallized.

Active elderly, young people are tired

The older generation therefore appears to be more active than the younger generation. “Almost half of young people say they are too busy with work and too tired, which prevents them from being more active. Older people are making the most of their retirement and have reached an age where they feel good about themselves and appreciate their body and health,” the study shows. Did you know that this is the age when people are usually happiest? And that age may be higher than you thought.
